Seasonal Influenza Vaccine
BAPMG seasonal influenza vaccination is under way. Vaccination is recommended for all infants over the age of six months as well as all children and adolescents. The vaccine administered will be the regular seasonal flu vaccine and does not cover the H1N1 09 flu (swine flu).
Vaccination is particularly recommended for
1) Parents and family members or infants who will be less than 6 months of age by the beginning of flu season (November 09).
2) Infants and children between the age of 6 months and 5 years of age.
1) Any infant, child or adolescent who suffers from chronic respiratory disease, heart disease, or diabetes.
Please call your regular BAPMG office to schedule an appointment for one of our flu clinic days. If your child will be having a regular well child check between September 1 and December 31 the flu shot can be administered at that visit.
H1N1 Vaccine (Swine Flu)
We expect to receive initial shipments of the novel H1N1 vaccine soon. Initially they will ship the nose-spray version though this is not suitable for people with asthma. We don't know when the injectable will ship. In general it is expected that there will be ample supply but is not expected to be delivered before November 1, 2009. When we have more information on availability and delivery of that vaccine we will post alerts on our website and in the offices.
