Dr. Diane Suwabe has been with BAPMG since 1990. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from U.C. Berkeley in 1983. She attended Medical School at U.C. Irvine and graduated in 1987. Her postgraduate training took place at Children's Hospital of Northern California. She completed her residency in 1990. Dr. Suwabe is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

She is a former Vice-Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and former chair of the Pediatric Quality Assurance Committee at Mills Peninsula Hospital. She continues to serve as a member of the Pediatric Quality Assurance Commitee.

Dr. Suwabe works primarily in our San Mateo office. She is fluent in Spanish. Her main hospital affiliation is Mills Peninsula Hospital. She is a member of the Mills Peninsula Medical Group. She enjoys caring for all age groups of children and adolescents. Dr. Suwabe has twin children of her own and is a great resource for families with twins.

   

Kenneth Rosenbaum, MD

Dr. Rosenbaum has been with Bay Area Pediatrics since 1995. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles where he received his Bachelor of Science in 1987. From there he attended the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine receiving his M.D. in 1991. Dr. Rosenbaum did his postgraduate work in Pediatrics at UCSF, completing his residency in Pediatrics in 1994. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Rosenbaum works primarily in our San Mateo office. He is fluent in Spanish. His main hospital affiliations are California Pacific Medical Center, Seton Medical Center and Mills-Peninsula Hospital. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UC San Francisco. He is a member of the Mills Peninsula Medical Group.

Dr. Rosenbaum is active in local community healthcare working as Medical Director of the Fragile Infant Program of San Mateo County.

   

Susan Valentin, RN, MS, CPNP

Ms. Valentin has been part of BAPMG since 1995. She graduated from San Francisco State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. From there she attended the University of California, San Francisco and graduated with a Masters of Science in Nursing in 1992 and Post Masters in 1995. Susan is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and by the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners.

Susan worked as a Pediatric Acute and Critical Care nurse for eight years prior to joining Bay Area Pediatric Medical Group. She taught at San Francisco State University as a Pediatric Clinical Professor, and also served as a Pediatric Cardiology Clinical Nurse Specialist. Susan provides health education to our patients including Asthma and Weight Management. She works primarily at the San Mateo Office.

Susan's family includes her three children.

Dr. Mason has been with Bay Area Pediatric Medical Group-San Mateo since July 2002. He comes to the practice after 5 years in Salinas, CA at Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas, where he worked with the children of migrant farm workers. Before settling in northern California, he worked in a community health clinic in Southeast San Diego, as Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Adolescent medicine at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, and as a lecturer and advisor for the State of California Office of Family Planning. He also consulted with Hablando Claro, an educational group focusing on adolescent Latino health issues through the Logan Heights Health Clinic.


Dr. Mason graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology. He received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Birmingham. He completed an internship/residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, followed by a 2-year clinical fellowship in adolescent medicine at UCSD Medical Center, in San Diego, CA. He concluded his formal education with a 1-year research fellowship in adolescent medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle.


Throughout his career Dr. Mason has taught medical students, interns, residents, fellows, allied health students, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. He enjoys teaching and currently serves as a lecturer and consultant for the California Family Health Council, Inc. and precepts physician assistant students from Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, CA.


He is a member of the Society for Adolescent Medicine and the Quality Improvement Committee for Mills Peninsula Medical Group. He also is a committee member for the California Asthma Sutter Initiative (CASI).


In addition to teaching, Dr. Mason enjoys singing (he’s a featured soloist at Glide Memorial in San Francisco), baking (for friends and family), and working out (when he has time).

Dr. Tan has been with BAPMG since 1992. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Yale University in 1984. She attended Medical School at the University of Michigan and graduated in 1989. Her postgraduate training was performed at the University of Michigan Medical Center. She completed her residency in 1992. The American Board of Pediatrics certifies Dr. Tan.

Dr. Tan works primarily in our San Mateo office. Her main hospital affiliations are Mills Peninsula Hospital and Sequoia Hospital. She is a member of the Mills Peninsula Hospital. She enjoys caring for all age groups of infants, children and adolescents. Dr. Tan has two young children of her own.

   

James Ferrara, MD

Dr. Ferrara has been with BAPMG since 1986. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1978. He attended the Georgetown University School of Medicine where he graduated in 1983. He did his postgraduate work in Pediatrics at Children's Hospital of San Francisco where he served as Chief Resident in Pediatrics 1985-86. Dr. Ferrara is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Ferrara works primarily in the San Mateo and Belmont offices. His primary hospital affiliations are Mills Peninsula Hospital and Sequoia Hospital. He is a member of the the Mills Peninsula Medical Group. Dr. Ferrara is currently serving as CEO and President of Bay Area Pediatric Medical Group. In recent years Dr. Ferrara served as Chief of Pediatrics at Mills Peninsula Hospital, and Director of Nurseries at Seton Hospital.

Dr Ferrara is married and has two children. He enjoys spending his time off with his family, and is an avid golfer.
